What do you want to do after?

After high school I plan to go to a Language college in Paris. I have been very interested in Asian cultures for a long time, especially Korean. My goal is to work abroad and to teach or become a translator in Korea. Next year I would like therefore to study English and Korean for 3 years for my degree and then do my Masters at a university in Korea to learn about their customs, languages and to learn more about the Korean community and for this, I need a good level in English. I think this would be a very rewarding and an original project. I might not see my family a lot but I am very motivated to live there. I've already started to study at home with the help of my Korean friends. I will go to Korea this summer for 2 months to study before returning to college and I think I will often travel there. I really like to teach or translate from one language to another! It's fun. I really want to do this job and be able to give my knowledge of French to foreigners. Life away from France does not scare me. On the contrary, I like to travel as I have already been to several countries, especially America and England and studied a little there.
I will improve myself to fulfil my goal!

This text is an article which appeared in the newpaper "The Guardian" on 9 March 1996. We don't know the name of the journalist but we know the title of the article. It's "On your eurobike" and it's about workers and companies in other countries. At the beginning of this article the author is very surprised because many people don't take the opportunity of working in other countries. In November 1994, an agency started a new scheme called "Eures" to help job seekers . This service gives details about living and working conditions in other European countries. Job seekers can apply for jobs but they must have language skills because it's the most important thing for communication and to understand what other people are saying. There are many choices of job like waiters, hoteliers, working in tourism etc…
This service is financed by the European Commission which is in partnership with national public employment services. But it's still a problem for UK applicants because of their lack of fluency in another European language.
